Transnuclear, Inc., an AREVA company, is proud to announce that its environmental management system has been certified as meeting the requirements of ISO 14001:2004. The three-year certification took effect in December.

“ISO 14001:2004 certification assures customers that Transnuclear is conducting business in an environmentally responsible way, in accordance with AREVA’s commitment to sustainable development,” said Transnuclear President and CEO Tara Neider.

“All six of the AREVA Group’s logistics businesses are ISO 14001:2004 certified,” Neider added. “Transnuclear and the other companies are transporting nuclear materials around the globe inan environmentally conscientious way that meets the rules and expectations of the international community.”

“This certification is a management tool that helps Transnuclear to be rigorous in identifying all applicable regulations, determining how to meet requirements, and ensuring that the company remains in compliance,” explained Mike Rencheck, Chief Operating Officer, AREVA Inc.  “Our Sustainable Development efforts have resulted in positive changes and reduced our corporate environmental footprint.”

The ISO 14001:2004 certification applies to all Transnuclear activities including engineering, design, fabrication, transport logistics and project management. It also covers company facilities in Columbia, Md., and Aiken, S.C.
